Aleks and Dara
Spirit Sisters is the creative partnership of Dara Lahard and Aleks Rillo — a directing, writing, and editing duo.
Rooted in editing, their work includes projects for Vogue, GQ, Calvin Klein, Esquire, and Uniqlo, as well as the documentary series episode “Mindfulness”, available on Apple TV.
Their writing and documentary work spans books, screenplays, original stories, and projects across multiple continents — including “A Brave New World”, a documentary about the voice of a generation and the future of society; a VR wildlife film on the Galápagos Islands for Wild Immersion; and a documentary project in West Africa.
As writers, Spirit Sisters are developing “Faraday Colony”, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama about consciousness, juvenile delinquents, and the moral cost of survival, and “La Nuit”, a chamber family drama about an immigrant family, generational trauma, and emotional isolation.
Directing across fiction, documentary, commercials, and music videos — including a music promo for Laurent Ferlet x Uma Thurman — Spirit Sisters create cinematic stories shaped by beauty, darkness, irony, and emotional storytelling.
